Care for a Sfeerwonen Enzo mango wood table with a slightly damp cloth, a drop of mild soap and drying straight away: oil or wax is not needed, because all our tables are matt lacquered. Wipe up spills within a few minutes, always put hot pans on a coaster and keep the table at least 1 metre from the heating. Stains, white rings and small scratches can almost always be dealt with without sanding or oiling.
| Problem | What to do | What not to do |
|---|---|---|
| Dust and crumbs | Soft, dry cloth | Scouring sponge or microfibre with a rough side |
| Grease or dirt | Slightly damp cloth with a drop of mild soap, then dry | All-purpose cleaner, ammonia or vinegar |
| Wine, coffee or sauce | Dab immediately, then wipe with a damp cloth and dry | Rubbing or letting it soak in |
| White ring | Wait a few days in a warm, dry room | Sanding, oiling or polishing |
| Candle wax | Let it harden, slide it off with a plastic card | Scraping it off with a knife |
| Small scratch | Leave it or contact us | Sanding or staining it yourself |
Do you need to oil a mango wood table?
No. All our solid mango wood tables are matt lacquered. The lacquer seals the wood, so oil or wax cannot soak in. It stays on top of the lacquer and leaves marks or a greasy shine. A damp cloth and a little mild soapy water are enough, even after years.
How do you clean the table top every day?
Remove crumbs and dust with a soft, dry cloth. If the top is dirty, use a well wrung-out cloth with a drop of mild soap, such as washing-up liquid. Dry the top straight away with a dry cloth. Do not leave a wet cloth, a wet coaster or a puddle of water on the wood.
Do not use a scouring sponge, all-purpose cleaner, vinegar or products containing ammonia or alcohol. They make the lacquer dull or damage it. Unsure about a product? Test it first under the top or on a spot you cannot see.
How do you get stains out of a mango wood table?
The faster you are, the easier it is. Dab wine, coffee, sauce or oil immediately with kitchen paper or a dry cloth. Do not rub, as that spreads the stain. Then use a slightly damp cloth with a drop of mild soap and dry straight away. Because the top is lacquered, a fresh stain almost always stays on the surface.
Let candle wax harden completely first. Then carefully slide it off with a plastic card. Place a sheet of kitchen paper on the remains and warm it briefly with a hairdryer on a low setting; the paper absorbs the wax.
What do you do about white rings?
A white ring forms when heat or moisture gets into the top layer, for example from a hot mug or a wet glass. Such a ring often disappears by itself within a few days in a warm, dry room. Do not sand, oil or polish, because that damages the lacquer. Does the ring remain visible? Then contact us and we will look at the options together.

How do you prevent scratches and dents?
Mango wood is hard and sturdy, but no wooden top is scratch-proof. Lift vases, dishes and laptops instead of sliding them across the top. Put felt under decorations with a rough base. Use a mat for crafts, painting or homework, and placemats at mealtimes. A small scratch in the lacquer is usually barely noticeable in the lively grain of mango wood. Do not sand it away yourself: that removes the lacquer and leaves the wood unprotected there.
Where is the best place for a mango wood table?
Solid wood moves with the humidity. So place the table at least 1 metre from a radiator, stove or open fire, and not in full sun behind glass. A humidity level between 40 and 60 percent is ideal. Especially in winter the heating dries out the air; we go into this in more detail in our guide wooden table in winter.
Can a mango wood dining table stand outdoors?
No, our mango wood dining tables are made for indoor use. Rain, frost and large temperature differences are too much for the top. If you want to eat outdoors at a wooden table, choose a garden table that is made for it.
How do you keep the base looking good?
The steel bases are matt black powder-coated. Wipe them with a damp cloth and dry them. If the table wobbles after a move or on a new floor, first check whether it is level. Check now and then that the screws between top and base are still tight.
Frequently asked questions about caring for mango wood tables
Can I use furniture polish or wax on a matt lacquered table?
Better not. Polish and wax stay on top of the lacquer and leave streaks or a greasy shine. A damp cloth with mild soap is enough.
How often should I care for my mango wood table?
Wiping it daily with a dry or slightly damp cloth is enough. A separate maintenance treatment with oil or wax is not needed for a lacquered table.
Can I put a hot pan on a mango wood table?
No. Always put pans, oven dishes and teapots on a coaster. Direct heat can leave a white mark or a burn in the lacquer.
Are hairline cracks in mango wood normal?
Small hairline cracks can appear if the air is very dry for a long time, such as in a well-heated house. So keep your distance from the heating and make sure there is enough humidity.
Does a black mango wood table need different care?
No. Natural and black are both matt lacquered and you care for them in the same way. On black you do see dust and fingerprints a little sooner, so wipe the top with a dry cloth a bit more often.
