A 160 cm Danish oval dining table seats 6 people comfortably (maximum 8), 200 cm seats 8 and 240 cm seats 9 (maximum 11). Thanks to the straighter sides, it often seats one person more than a regular oval table of the same size. For the room, allow the size of the table plus about 2.3 metres in length and width.

What is a Danish oval dining table?

A Danish oval table sits between rectangular and oval: the long sides are almost straight, the ends are rounded. You get the space of a rectangular table, but without corners. This shape is also known as a "boat shape" or, in German, "Bootsform".

Round Oval Danish oval Rectangular

Which size do you choose in your situation?

160 to 180 cm: 6 to 7 people

Enough for a family of four with two guests. Thanks to the rounded ends, sitting at the end is more comfortable than at a rectangular table.

200 cm: 8 people

The size for those who often eat with family. Eight people sit comfortably and the table is 100 cm wide, with room for serving dishes in the middle.

220 to 240 cm: 9 to 11 people

For large gatherings and a spacious dining room or open-plan kitchen. Allow for a room at least 4.5 to 4.7 metres long.

Base, edge and top

Our Danish oval tables have a 5 cm thick top, matt lacquered against stains and moisture, with a bevelled Swiss Edge. They stand on a black steel matrix base and are 76 cm high. You can choose mango wood in natural or black, or oak.
